Privacy Policy
This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and what control you have over your data. Our privacy posture is deliberately conservative: the renter owns their reputation.
What we collect
Account information: name, email, role (tenant or landlord), date of birth, and display preferences you set during onboarding.
Verification information: documents you upload for tenancy verification (lease, utility bill), reference identity verification (via Stripe Identity), and property claim verification (deed, management agreement, insurance policy). We store these on encrypted object storage and grant access only to the user who submitted them and our admin reviewers.
Platform activity: properties you create or claim, reviews and references you submit or receive, share links you generate, and notifications we send you. We do not collect view-tracking on shared resumes.
Technical information: IP address, browser/device identifiers, and standard server logs for security and reliability. These are retained for a limited period and never sold.
What we don't collect or do
We do not track who views a tenant's resume. The model intentionally has no view-tracking columns. The tenant alone knows who they shared a credential with.
We do not notify a writer when their reference is approved or declined. Tenants own their credentials; declining a reference is silent by design.
We do not maintain a public tenant directory or tenant search. Tenant identity is never searchable. References never appear on public LeasedUp pages.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for cross-context advertising.
How we use what we collect
Operating the platform: matching tenancies to properties, attaching reviews and references to verified identities, delivering notifications, and securely storing verification documents.
Improving the service: aggregate, de-identified analytics — monthly counts of submissions by type, error rates, and similar operational metrics. No tenant names, property addresses, or content samples appear in these analytics.
Security and compliance: detecting abuse, complying with legal process where required, and protecting our users.
Who can see your data
Other users see only what you explicitly publish. Reviews you submit appear on the public property profile attributed by your display preference (initials by default). References you write are delivered privately to the tenant; the tenant decides whether to include them on their resume.
Admins at LeasedUp can access verification documents and account data to operate the platform (approve claims, investigate abuse). Access is logged.
We use a small number of trusted infrastructure providers — Clerk for authentication, Supabase for the database, Cloudflare R2 for document storage, Stripe Identity for ID verification, Resend for transactional email, and Google Maps for address autocomplete. Each is contractually bound to handle data on our behalf and not for their own purposes.
Your control
You can change your display preference at any time from your account settings. You can revoke any share link you've issued. You can delete your account by contacting us; we will remove or anonymize your account record and your private data within 30 days, subject to limited retention required by law.
Public content (published reviews, published landlord replies) may persist on property profiles after your account is deleted, but the attribution will be removed.
Children
LeasedUp is intended for adults (18+). We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
Changes
We may update this policy over time. Material changes will be communicated by email or in-app notice before they take effect.
